Flag football - America Week
The America Week, organized jointly by the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Pannonia, the Institute of English and American Studies, and American Corner Veszprém, took place between March 16–18, focusing on American culture.
On Monday, March 16, the series of events kicked off with a sports program: visitors could watch flag football matches between University of Pannonia and the Fehérvár Enthroners. 🏈 The games had a great atmosphere and highlighted the unique features of the sport, especially the spectacular catches and the distinctive sound effects accompanying tackles. The matches were complemented by an acrobatic cheerleader performance. 📣
Flag football will make its Olympic debut in Los Angeles in 2028, offering a great opportunity for those who would like to try American football but are hesitant about its physical intensity. It also significantly contributes to youth development in American football.
At the University of Pannonia, flag football has been available as an eligible sport for two years now, and students can earn their p.e. signature with it. 😉
More photos of the event can be viewed on the Flag Football Veszprém Facebook page, and a short summary video of Monday’s event is also available there. 📸🎬
The event was part of the Veszprém–Balaton 2026 European Region of Sport and the University of Pannonia's Year of Sport program series.
