History

The University of Pannonia was founded in 1949 and its first sports club was established in 1950. Two years later began the history of Department of Physical Education. The development of the physical culture of the students was formulated in the objectives of both organizational units.

The PE Department organized physical education classes and provided programs to develop physical culture. In addition to compulsory physical education, the most important task was the cultivated leisure time, in which sport was given a primary role. However, the department could not rule out supporting students in competitive sports activities. This has always been an important professional task for all faculty members in the department.

As of January 1, 2000, the Physical Education and Sports Institute was established as part of the university integration process.

The location of the institute is the University Gymnasium of the University of Pannonia.

The director of the institute is Dr. László Edvy, physical education teacher.

Facilities: University Gymnasium, Stadium Sports Facilities, Elizabeth Park Tennis Courts, Conditioning Room.

The sports association of the University (currently the Veszprém University Sports Club - VESC) is an organization with an independent legal status operating next to the university, whose primary role is to create the conditions for competitive sports. It ensures the development of the organizational framework of sports groups and departments, and the professional management of the training and competition of university students.
