The Hungarian University - College Sports Federation (MEFS) was the first university - college sports federation to be founded in Europe (in 1907) and the second in the world. It is exclusive organiser of the participation of Hungarian students in the following international competitions:  International University Sports Federation (FISU), European University Sports Association (EUSA), Hungarian University - College National Championships (MEFOB).

The MEFS organises the Hungarian University - College National Championships (MEFOB) in 40-45 sports annually in cooperation with higher education institutions, sports associations and the respective sports federations.

The competitions are open to athletes who are students of a higher education institution at the time of the competition or who graduated in the year preceding the competition at the earliest.
