Students from the University of Pannonia at the 17th KEK

A delegation of students from the University of Pannonia and the University of Pannonia Zalaegerszeg University Center participated in the 17th Carpathian Basin Universities Cup (KEK). The three-day sporting event, held at multiple venues across Budapest, this sporting event is one of the largest university sports festivals in the Carpathian Basin, with a record number of participants competing this year.

According to the organizers, nearly 2,200 athletes took part in the event held between March 5–7, 2026, marking the highest level of participation in the history of the KEK. The event was jointly organized by the sports association of Eötvös Loránd University (BEAC) and the Ludovika University of Public Service, providing competition opportunities in ten sports for Hungarian university athletes from both within Hungary and beyond the country’s borders.

A total of 24 students represented the University of Pannonia, competing in four sports:

  • basketball 🏀
  • chess ♟️
  • darts 🎯
  • floor curling 🥌

Over the two days, our students participated in numerous exciting matches and competitions, while also having the opportunity to meet athletes from other universities and build relationships. What makes the KEK special is that it is not just a competition but also a community experience: in addition to sports, cooperation among university students, socializing, and a shared passion for sports play.

For more than a decade and a half, the KEK has provided an opportunity for Hungarian university athletes to measure their skills in a supportive and inspiring environment. For the students of the University of Pannonia, participation meant not only a sporting experience but also a valuable sense of community.
